Since the early 1980’s Leanne has developed her interest in yoga into a career pathway that also included studies in Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. She undertook teacher training in 1988 with Sivananda Yoga and Vedanta academy in India. Along side a continuing personal practice in yoga, Leanne commenced her second teacher training in the tradition of Krishnamacharya in 1996. Leanne is honoured to be a Past President and to currently serve on the Council of Advisors for Yoga Australia .
Leanne also is a member of the Certification committee for the International Association of Yoga Therapist, part of the Council of Yoga teachers for Yoga New Zealand and on the expert advisory panel for The Australian Government Natural Therapies Review.
She has presented in 2016 at the Australasian Yoga therapy conference on the Pancha Vayu, Sydney Australia. In 2018 and 2019 on Mantra Centred Viniyoga and Yoga Therapy and Yoga Teacher Training panels at the Hauora conference for Yoga New Zealand, Auckland , New Zealand. Also in 2019 on Mantra centred Viniyoga at the Asian Yoga Therapy Association conference in Bali, Indonesia.
Previously she has presented on a variety of topics and panel discussions at several Yoga Australia conferences held in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.Australia.
In 2020 Co -chaired a common interest session on Assessment at the Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research for IAYT in Chicago, USA.
She has great enthusiasm for contributing to the profession of yoga teaching and helping to foster the practice and understanding of yoga in our community. She has a special interest in preserving the authenticity of yoga from its cultural and textual roots whilst embracing the evolution of yoga into contemporary culture.
Leanne holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture and currently works as a Yoga Teacher, Yoga Teacher Trainer, Yoga Therapist and Yoga Therapist Trainer, Vedic Chanting teacher and Acupuncturist and is the founder of Viniyoga Australia.
